The Unbelievable Power of Social Media

It’s a big deal lately. It’s a really big deal. If you have not jumped onto the jet that is rocketing some businesses to uncharted success, you should consider getting on board. Make your own Facebook page and keep it updated. Build your social network on this site and on your own Twitter account. These two highly interactive sites are great places to begin if you need to make a social media start. There are more high profile sites out there, but these two have the greatest overall impact. If you’re still skeptical, perhaps these three success stories will inspire you to become part of the new social wave.

An unknown business in Utah has come from behind to arrive at more than a million dollars from sales inside of a year. Orabrush is the company, and if you have not heard of them, lots of others have, thanks to social networking. Their principal product was created to eliminate bad breath. It took the combination of an elderly inventor and a young college student to make this brand a success. The older gentleman came up with the product, and the BYU student orchestrated a catchy video, loaded it up on YouTube and marketed it using only Facebook and Twitter. And that’s it. This invention made a million with online sales in less than 12 months simply because 20 million people viewed the video on YouTube, 250,000 pushed the “like it” button on Facebook, and the orders began streaming in for the specialized toothbrush.

SteelMaster Buildings is not the first type of business you immediately think of in connection with social activity, but they have found – and filled – a slot on Facebook for prefab steel construction. They created a Facebook page for their company and started to test ideas they felt would help market their structures. Just what is it that makes Facebook work? It is the network you create and keep. Having satisfied customers submit pictures – and have the chance to win a cash prize – of the way they use these steel buildings was the idea that worked best. This company figured out how to match the need with success.

Combining Facebook and Twitter to get yourself known is a sure fire way to increase visibility to potential clients. An equine dentist – i.e. a dentist for horses – from Florida found this combination was the best way to lengthen his reach past his immediate locale. Geoff Tucker made his own Facebook page and began making connections and friends. He also created a personal Twitter account and began writing a personal blog. The mixture of these three ensured an online presence and allowed others to get to know him as the man behind the job title, not just as some equine dentist. This visibility online got him greater press on both TV and radio. He was thrilled to be featured on HorseGirl.tv and Horse Talk Radio. So the social sites led to other avenues of success. He is gratified by the 100 leads he has netted from his online accounts and with the 10-15 happy clients who have found him as the end result of networking.

Are you convinced? Jump on, because there is still room for your company to find success by making the most of social media. Try it – you’re bound to be pleased with the results.

If You Are Going as Press Make Sure to Sign up as Press

This post is part of the 1st time press at CES 2010 post listing all the mistakes made at my first CES and the lessons learned from it.

If you have been following this blog you know that I had a great opportunity to attend CES and able to gather enough information to last many months. When I first showed up I did so as an attendee. I was hoping to go after the stories that we at the Hot Domain Show were looking after. As I went around I started to ask questions. These questions lead to members of CES letting me in on what I considered a huge secret. If you are considered legitimate enough with a huge enough following base then they will issue you a press pass which will give you access to all of the Press events including lunch everyday. What happens when health and tech merge together…

Health and tech, it’s the future and it’s always gone hand in hand. Myself I’ve always enjoyed new technological breakthroughs but then again I’ve always valued being healthy and alive. Being healthy and alive though means not having to know all the deep intricate details and relying on others to take care of those matters. The two videos that I have above talks a bit about visual healthcare and even social networking in the health industry. It is produced by CNBC and is quite interesting in it’s presentation. Take a moment and write in the comments what you think about the matter and is this the future, or is it already here and just haven’t had the time to notice and appreciate it.

Youtego, and what it took for me to finally understand it!

When I first came across Youtego, I knew it was special. It was so special that I had no idea whatsoever what I was supposed to do with it. Thanks to the helpful guidance of Artyom Shamtsyan, founder of the website, I had a great opportunity to better understand the everything.

The best way of explaining the website is a combination of discovering yourself and at the same time social networking through those connections. By tagging yourself a whole new world opens up. These tags are called “tegos”. These “tegos” combine a description with a picture from either an icon library, upload from a disk, Flickr, Picasa, or even google.

We started at the beginning where I got an overview of my profile including the use of “tegosets” to start adding “tegos” to the various categories. In the end I was able to make this very cool video with music attached that can be embedded into any website. Read the rest of this entry

First Look at 6rounds.com and how it’s going to change video social interactions forever.

In a world of boring video chats it’s hard to imagine that anything would ever get better. The team at 6rounds.com is ready to change your idea of what it means to video chat. Imagine effects and gifts that interact with you and your partner on the screen. If you are like me I’ve always been into games and 6rounds.com delivers. With a limited catalogue at this moment this will slowly change as 6rounds.com will be including a Studio where developers will be able to make and decide if they want to offer their applications for free or for pay. At time of publication the Studio has yet to be released.

My experience started when I first logged into the website using a code from a colleague of mine. There I was ready to meet my host Ilan, COO of 6rounds.com, at the time it was getting a bit late past the time of the interview and instead of emailing back and forth we were able to interact through the 6rounds.com site. Unlike other sites that just send you an email telling you to log in to receive the message 6rounds.com sends you an email with the full message attached. This makes it very comfortable and fluid to use this as a tool for interaction. If you are logged into the website a yellow box appears in the upper right hand corner notifying you that you have a new message.

Looking at Ilan’s list of friends I found one online. By clicking on him and choosing One to One I was fascinated on how it gave me choices of how many minutes I wanted to spend with this person that I had no idea who it was and even if they were even going to help me locate Ilan. The room launched and there before me I found myself face to face interacting with live human being. I asked where Ilan was and I was told that he would be right on.

Then I saw it, the green light next to Ilan’s name had lit up in the program. We tried a few times to get into a One to One having to relaunch a few times, a bug that 6rounds.com is fully aware of and is working on fixing. I have to tell you, once we were inside, Ilan showed me all the cool features of what separated 6rounds.com from all the other sites out there claiming to be the best. Even in Beta lockdown mode it was incredible to see. If this is the way the site looks when it is not even released to the general public, then world watch out. Ilan had mentioned that they are in need of people to test out the website for them to provide feedback so that this can be fixed. This is why we are pleased to announce that I have here in my hand for you 250 codes to access the website and experience this for yourself. The code is 6hot. Very clever 6 as in 6 rounds and hot as in the Hot Domain Show.
Take some time to watch the video above and make sure to sit through the entire 12 minutes, you will then understand why I am honored to present to you the loyal fans this wonderful opportunity to experience a video social networking treasure that shouts, hey world, look what we can do!
