Calling all video professionals

If you are anything like me, a videographer, you know how tough it is to distribute your footage especially when multiple people want that video on a DVD. One or two is not problem but start looking at twenty-five or more and you have yourself a challenge ahead of you.

There is a great article over at emediative that really illustrates the hardships one can face when it comes to making the decisions concerning duplication. Here is the DVD duplication guide that they published.

Once you finish reading that there is of course the question of where to go to get the equipment let’s say for DVD duplicators or even CD printers that you may want to look at. Just be sure that whatever you purchase that you do the research beforehand and really understand if purchasing equipment of just having someone else do it for you is more cost effective for you.

If the Shoe Doesn’t Fit, then sell it!

Today we have for you what can be considered quite a unique and different website that takes shoe purchasing and selling to a brand new level. The website entitled “If the Shoe Doesn’t Fit” is truly The Auction Site For Shoe Lovers unlike all the rest.

Normally when I hear an auction site there are fees that nickel and dime you every step of the way. Want to list, then you pay. Add a photo, there’s a cost for that. How about a headline? Don’t even think about it. This of course goes along with bolded headlines, highlights and even gallery listings. These all cost and at the end you don’t even want to be a part of the conversation.

If the Shoe Doesn’t Fit takes all of this confusion of cost and simplifies everything by charging $1 for the listing. That’s it! Just $1 no more aggravation over what you can and can’t add to get the shoe to sell. It’s as if this company actually wants you to have a fighting chance on selling off the shoes that dare I say it, doesn’t fit.

The team at If The Shoe Doesn’t Fit summed up everything very nicely.

Without ever having to leave the comfort of home or step out of pajamas, shoe lovers can connect with people who share their sense of style and shoe size.

I had my mother take a look at the website and she was amazed at everything that she saw on the site. She told me all about how whenever you go to a big event you tend to get shoes that you never wear again and that this is a great solution for those that may need to clean out the closet.

In fact she allowed me to take a picture of a few of her shoe boxes just to illustrate the point.

If you are going to be using this website to sell off your shoes be sure to use coupon code SOLES on your “My Account” page to receive 2 Free Listings!

PlaylistNow.fm: Realize Your Feelings Through Playlists

Imagine that you are planning a party at your house tonight. You want there to be lots of dancing and people having fun. You think to yourself, the key to this is the music I pick. But maybe you think that your iTunes library, full of indie rock and folk songs, may not be the best playlist for an awesome party later. Let’s face it, it’s hard to dance to anything by Death Cab for Cutie. You think to yourself, if only there was a site that could make the perfect playlist for this party, and all I would have to do is type in the general atmosphere I’d like to portray with the music I play.

Well, don’t you worry, if you are having deep thoughts about music to play at a party, there IS a site for you. Or even if you just like the music you play to coincide with your mood, there is STILL a site for you.
Playlistnow.fm is a website that takes how you are feeling or what you’re doing into consideration when suggesting a playlist for you to listen to. On the homepage, you can use some descriptive keywords and Playlistnow.fm will match you up with a playlist according to what you have typed in.
For example, maybe you’re looking for some mellow sounds to relax to after a long day at work. Pull up the homepage of Playlistnow.fm, type in relaxing, and you are given several options:

Maybe you aren’t simply relaxing, but it’s more of a chillaxing moment for you. Or maybe it’s a little more than just relaxing, and you’re in the middle of a massage. Playlistfm.com even thought that you might be “feeling jazzy.”
Whatever the case may be, Playlistnow.fm understands that sometimes, you need an extremely specific playlist. After all, we all need music to go with how we’re feeling, and sometimes iTunes shuffle just doesn’t cut it. And like iTunes, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to change the song—a nice touch on their part.
Another great feature of Playlistnow.fm is that you can create your own profile, which is a quick process if you already have a Twitter account. You can log in using your Twitter account, and have more features available to you.
With an account at Playlistnow.fm, you can click on the heart icons next to each song, or for an entire playlist, and then they are in your profile under your list of favorites. This is an important feature if you’re like me and you listen to a song, like it, and think, “I’ll come back to that later.” It keeps all the songs that you have favorite-ed in one place, or you can just favorite an entire playlist if you like.
Also, for each playlist you click on, there is a sidebar that suggests other songs you may like because of the type of music on the playlist. I’ve found myself clicking through generated suggestions on iTunes from time to time, so I thought that was a nice feature to have available.
Something interesting about the content of Playlistnow.fm is the variety of genres of music that they offer. There seems to be a good variety of genres on each playlist, though it seems that there is slightly more rock/electronic music than other genres. There are a lot of covers or different versions of songs you may already know, which keeps things interesting in my opinion.
While a great concept with lots of positive aspects, there are some parts of Playlistnow.fm that could use some improvement.
Sometimes, the results are a bit too specific, and they don’t have playlists for more general emotions like anger:

Clearly, every time you’re angry it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve just come back from a shitty party. Maybe that is the case at some point, but they should cover the basic emotions first before getting really specific with their playlists.
Also, it seems that the site could be on a much bigger scale. There are only 218 playlists when you click on the tab at the top that says “All Playlists.” If Playlistnow.fm gains more popularity, it seems this number would go up considerably because users are allowed to create their own playlists.
Another improvement that could be made would be to allow users to narrow each playlist by the genres that they like the most. Just a thought, some of us are extra picky like that.
Lastly, one of my biggest problems is that if I click on a song to listen to it on a particular playlist and then I want to continue browsing other playlists, the song won’t keep playing if I change the page I am on. I would love to see the player continuously play whatever song you’ve chosen until you choose a different one, allowing you to browse and listen at the same time without opening up other tabs.
Overall, Playlistnow.fm is a great concept, and the site is easy enough to navigate. With some slight improvements, Playlistnow.fm could become really popular. When I first heard about it, I even thought to myself, “Why hasn’t anyone come up with this idea yet?”  I’ve seen a few similar sites, but so far I like Playlistnow.fm the best, especially if they add a few more features.
Currently, Playlistnow.fm may be planning changes to the site, so let’s hope that they add more features and keep understanding our feelings through playlists.
